This is the season-opener for both teams. Winnipeg won the Central Division title last season, but the Jets couldn't beat the Stars in the playoffs, losing in six games in the second round. That's a confidence boost for Dallas going into this matchup. Despite reaching the Western Conference Finals for the third straight year, the Stars fired their coach, Peter DeBoer. Dallas brought back Glen Gulutzan, who coached the team from 2011 to 2013 and has spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Oilers. Gulutzan needs to prove himself early so the Stars won't be lacking urgency. Winnipeg already is plagued with injuries, especially at center, with Cole Perfetti, Adam Lowry, and Jonathan Toews all out. Defenseman Dylan Samberg is also sidelined with a wrist injury. The Stars went 5-1 in the preseason, while Winnipeg lost four of its six preseason games. Dallas is the healthier team. Take the Stars to get a win.
