The Avalanche is off a season worst 1-7 stretch, have begun to show signs of life as they have now claimed victory in two of their last three. The Blue Jackets revved up the engines to surprise San Jose in their last game in a shootout 3-2, but overall they have dropped three of their last four. They could be flat here off an emotional win and have not played well recently, as they had dropped their previous three games. The Blue Jackets rose to the occasion against San Jose, but history tells us by their 12-39 mark in their last 51 against teams with a losing record, they don't show up for the weaker teams.
