Carolina at New Jersey

New Jersey will try to keep it going after winning two straight following a four-game skid. The Devils come off a 3-2 overtime victory over Seattle on Wednesday. Nico Hischier scored his second goal of the night on a breakaway with 1:18 left in the extra period, and Jacob Markstrom stopped 15 shots for the Devils. Carolina exploded for nine goals against Florida, and that was three more than the Hurricanes had scored in their previous three games combined. As often happens, they probably should have saved some for tonight's game. Markstrom has rebounded from his own debacle when he surrendered nine goals against the Islanders. He has won his last two starts while stopping 36 of 40 shots to improve to 12-10-1. Frederik Andersen is probable for Carolina, and he is 6-10-3 with a 3.37 goals-against average. The Hurricanes are playing a back-to-back and have lost five of their last six road games. They are 9-1 OVER versus teams with winning records and 7-1 OVER their past eight Saturday games.
