Carolina at Montreal

The Hurricanes swept the Flyers and Senators to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. Those were two plodding opponents. Montreal is a much different foe, more aggressive and offensive-minded. Carolina knows this well. The teams have met five times this season. The Canadiens are averaging 4.6 goals a game against the Hurricanes. Carolina was more aggressive with its forechecking and defensive pressure in winning Game 2 at home, 3-2 in overtime, after losing 6-2 in the opening game of the series. Now the scene shifts to Montreal. The Hurricanes' offense should be getting more attention. Carolina was the second-highest scoring team in the league at 3.5 goals a game, while also ranking second in shots on goal. Montreal's defense was slightly below average during the regular season. The last time the Canadiens hosted a game was May 16, and they surrendered eight goals to the Sabres. Have to expect more fireworks here. Take the OVER.
