New York Islanders vs Pittsburgh Penguins Betting Picks

Quietly and below the radar, Pittsburgh has gone 13-3-2 since Christmas. The Penguins have a league-best plus-15 goal differential since January 19, excelling on the road, winning seven of their last eight away games, including the past four. Pittsburgh is 15-7-4 overall on the road this season. The Penguins are worth riding against the Islanders. New York has lost its last two games, falling 4-1 to the Capitals in a lackluster performance on Monday and 4-3 to the Predators at home this past Saturday. New York is 24th in scoring and averaging two goals per game in its last three games. Sidney Crosby has been dominant against the Islanders, recording 139 points in 91 career games. Pittsburgh was picked to finish last in the Metropolitan Division, but the Penguins pulled off an underdog win on opening night, defeating the New York Rangers 3-0 with Arturs Silovs stopping 25 shots. Tristan Jarry will be in net tonight for the Penguins after going 16-12-6 with a 3.12 goals-against average in 2024-25. The Islanders will open their season with Ilya Sorokin, who finished 30-24-6 with a 2.71 GAA last season. New York traded top scorer Brock Nelson to Colorado late last season, but it still has a top line consisting of Bo Horvat (28 goals, 57 points), Anders Lee (29 goals), and Kyle Palmieri (24 goals), although Lee may be out for this game. He is likely to start tonight and Sorokin is 25-20-5 with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. New York has won seven of eight against teams with losing records and Pittsburgh has lost six of seven Tuesday games. The Penguins have gone UNDER four of six overall and they are 4-0-1 UNDER with two days rest. The Islanders are 4-0-1 UNDER their past five road games and 6-1-1 UNDER versus losing teams. Marcus Hogberg is expected to start for New York and he has stopped all 17 shots he has faced in 40 minutes with the Islanders this season. He previously played three seasons with Ottawa from 2018-21. Alex Nedeljkovic is probable for Pittsburgh and he had 29 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory over Los Angeles his last outing on Dec. 17. The Islanders have alternated good performances offensively as they have scored six goals twice their past four games and none and one in the other two games. That doesn't bode well for scoring tonight as New York defeated the Penguins 6-3 on Saturday. The Penguins will make some defensive adjustments and they had allowed 2.83 goals per game their previous six games. Take the UNDER.
