Edmonton Oilers vs Nashville Predators

Edmonton has won two in a row and both have gone OVER, including a 4-3 overtime victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Connor McDavid had a goal and three assists and Leon Draisaitl scored the game-winner for the Oilers. Nashville has lost six of eight after losing 3-2 to Colorado in OT on Monday. Juuse Saros dropped to 4-7-2 on the season, allowing all three goals, and he is probable tonight. Calvin Pickard is confirmed for the Oilers, who have won three of his past four starts. The Predators have lost five straight against the Pacific Division and they have lost their past four road games overall. McDavid will be going for his 1,000th point tonight. The Edmonton Oilers had some high expectations this season with their electric offense. It has not been there in the early going, and now Connor McDavid is out for a few weeks. Edmonton has started at 4-5-1, but they have been getting beaten badly too often in the early going. Edmonton has allowed 35 goals, and has scored just 23. So they are -12 on the season in scoring margin. Only the Sharks have been worse in the Western Conference. Nashville opened the season an ugly 0-5, but have rallied back to win three of their last four. The Predators allowed 23 goals in those first five games, but just eight in their last four. The Edmonton Oilers were one of the most dynamic offenses from a year ago, but they got off to a slow start. Edmonton managed just three goals in their first three games before finally breaking into the win column with a 4-3 OT win vs. the Flyers. The Nashville Predators have had their own struggles out of the gate, going 0-3. They have been outscored 14-6 in the three games for a -8 differential, which is third-worst in the league. Edmonton needed that last win in a big way, and now that they're away from all the pressures of performing on home ice, I look for them to keep trending upward. Make the play on Edmonton.

Stuart Skinner is expected in net to night for the Oilers and he is 1-3-1 with a 3.62 goals-against average and .861 save percentage. Skinner was the loser on Thursday when the Oilers lost 4-3 even with a 49-27 edge in shots on goal. Nashville also is off to a disappointing start, but the Predators have won four of 10 and Juuse Saros has a respectable 2.68 GAA and ,909 save percentage with one shutout. The Predators allow 3.00 goals per game and they are 65-31 their past 96 games against teams with losing records.
