Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles has won both meetings this season, including a 5-4 shootout victory on Feb. 7. The Kings have won five of seven, although they do come off a 3-2 overtime loss to Vancouver on Wednesday. Dallas also lost 6-4 to Columbus on Tuesday to conclude an exhausting six-game trip in which the Stars won three. They could still be feeling the effects as the Stars play their first home game since Feb. 2. Darcy Kuemper is 18-6-6 with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage for the Kings, who have won six of seven against Central Division opponents. Los Angeles won the first meeting 3-2 on Dec. 4, and the Kings will go for their third win in a row after victories over Carolina and Montreal. Kevin Fiala scored twice in the Kings' four-goal third period on Wednesday, and they beat the Canadiens 6-3. Darcy Kuemper stopped 18 of 21 shots to improve to 16-6-6 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage this season, and he is expected to start tonight. Los Angeles has won 16 of 20 home games in 2024-25 and has won six straight at home versus teams with winning road records. The Kings also have won seven of eight against opponents with .600 winning percentages. The past six meetings have gone UNDER, Dallas is 30-17-6 UNDER this season, and the Kings are 29-19-3 UNDER. Dallas plays its second straight on the road after a win at Utah. It's also their fifth road game in seven contests. The power play ranks 21st in the league. Los Angeles is 8-2-1 at home with a defense that is fifth in the NHL in goals given up (2.68 per game). Dallas won 5-1 on Jan. 16 in the only meeting this season and the Stars have won seven of the past nine meetings and they currently are riding a four-game win streak after defeating Anaheim 6-2 on Friday night. Roope Hintz had a goal and two assists and Jake Oettinger had 25 saves for the Stars, who will likely have Scott Wedgewood in net for this game. Wedgewood is 13-6-5 with a 2.97 goals-against average and his last start was on Feb. 26 against the New York Islanders and he stopped 25 of 28 shots although the Stars lost 3-2 in overtime. Los Angeles has lost 17 of 30 home games this season and the Kings have split their past eight games after beating Ottawa 4-3 in overtime on Thursday. Dallas has won seven of its past nine at Los Angeles and seven of its past eight against the Pacific Division.
