Colorado Avalanche vs Seattle Kraken Betting Picks

Colorado has beaten the Kraken five straight times, including 5-3 on Dec. 16 in the only meeting this season. The Avalanche had a five-game win streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to Edmonton on Tuesday, but they still have allowed only 2.33 goals per game in their past six games. Scott Wedgewood is expected to start, and he is 24-4-5 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage for the Avalanche, who have won their past five road games. They have also won five straight road games against the Kraken. Seattle has lost five of seven overall and four of five against Western Conference opponents. The Kraken have allowed 14 goals while losing their past three games and have averaged just 2.6 goals per game in 10 games. Seattle has won only 16 of 33 home games. Take the Avalanche. 

The Avalanche (23-2-7) has powered its way to the top of the league standings with a +54 scoring differential. Colorado just won back-to-back home games against the Panthers (6-2) and Predators (4-2), but they haven’t played with the same intensity in recent games away from Ball Arena. Since opening the season 3-0 on the road, the Avs are only 7-7 for a -24.1% ROI. They always carry a hefty price tag from oddsmakers, and tonight is no exception, but their scoring margins indicate they’re playing a different style of hockey, with 10 of their past 14 road games decided by one goal. Other than the 9-1 blowout win in Edmonton, the Avs are scoring and allowing exactly 2.85 goals in road games over the past two months. Seattle’s recent scoring drought has sunk them to the bottom of the league at 2.47 GPG, but they always get up for the Avs. Remember, the Kraken's most memorable feat as a franchise was eliminating the Avs in the first round of the 2022-23 playoffs. All-time, Seattle is 8-11 vs. Colorado, and at home, the Kraken have played a defensive style, resulting in seven of nine games staying UNDER. It’s always a tough task keeping Colorado’s top line in check, but Seattle ranks #15 in goals allowed this season. With home ice, I’m grabbing the massive moneyline value on Seattle to nail down this first meeting of the season. Take Seattle. 

Seattle looks to end a scoring drought tonight against Colorado, which is playing its fourth game in seven days and the first three were on the road. The Avalanche lost to Vancouver before defeating lowly San Jose and Anaheim. The Kraken will likely have its best goalie going tonight as Joey Daccord is 12-8-2 with a 2.49 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage with a shutout this season. It was Philipp Grubauer who gave up five goals as Seattle lost 6-2 at Vegas last night. Mackenzie Blackwood is 8-10-3 and probable for the Avalanche. Seattle is in revenge mode after losing the first meeting this season and it is getting great line value. Take the Kraken.

The Seattle Kraken have been better than their 5-7-1 record may indicate. The record isn't there, but the Kraken have a scoring margin of just -2 so they have been a lot more competitive than the record says they are. Colorado is off to a streaky start, and they've lost three in row. The injury bug has not been kind to this team. While the Kraken are -2 in scoring margin on the season, the Avalanche is -10, and haven't been nearly as competitive. This has been a great venue for the Kraken. They have won six of their last eight meetings here in Colorado, and we're getting a nice price. I like Seattle in this one.
