This is a more dangerous matchup than it looks on paper for Carolina. The Hurricanes are off a 2-1 loss to the Kraken this past Monday and are at the Oilers in a revenge spot on Friday. So it is easy for the Hurricanes to overlook Vancouver, which has the league's worst record. That Canucks, however, played Carolina tough in their lone meeting this season. It took the Hurricanes an overtime to defeat Vancouver, 4-3, at home on Nov. 14. This is Vancouver's final home game before Friday's trade deadline. Despite their dismal record, the Canucks have talent available with Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, Teddy Blueger, and Evander Kane. All of these coveted players should be motivated to play well since they are on the trading block. The Canucks are hoping to catch the Hurricanes off guard by mixing up their first two lines. Nils Hoglander is getting moved up to the top line alongside Pettersson and Conor Garland. Liam Ohgren is moving up to the second line. The 22-year-old Ohgren, acquired in the trade for Quinn Hughes, has produced four points in his last five games. Take the Canucks.
