Carolina Hurricanes vs Florida Panthers Betting Picks

After being shut out for the first time this season, 3-0, by the Blues three days ago, the Hurricanes will be placing a great deal of emphasis on their offense following that embarrassment. Carolina is the No. 7 scoring team in the NHL. The Hurricanes had scored at least three goals in nine of their 10 previous games before losing to St. Louis. Veteran Sergei Bobrovsky is projected to be in the net for Florida. He is having a down season with a 2.90 GAA and a .881 save percentage. Florida is coming off a four-goal game against Buffalo. The Panthers will have fresh legs, having last played four days ago. There have been six or more goals scored in seven of the past 10 meetings between these two teams. Carolina returns home from a three-game road trip. Awaiting the Hurricanes are the Panthers, who just upset Carolina, 4-3, as a home underdog this past Friday. Florida outshot Carolina, 39-29. The Hurricanes had Jaccob Slavin and Seth Jarvis in that game, too. Both are out with injuries now. Jarvis leads the Hurricanes in goals with 19. The Panthers have been inconsistent due in part to injuries to Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov, but the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions remain dangerous, especially when they get up for games like this one. Carolina blew a 3-0 lead to the Panthers in Friday's loss. That has to hurt mentally. Florida is in a good offensive groove, producing 18 goals in its past five games. Take the Panthers. 

First-place Carolina is 11-4-1 on the road. Their +21 goal differential is the second-best in the Eastern Conference, and the fourth-best in the NHL. The Hurricanes have won five in a row and rank fifth in goals scored (3.27 per game), while the defense is eighth in goals given up. Florida ranks 16th in power-play percentage and shooting percentage, while the defense ranks 18th in goals allowed (3.09 per game) and 22nd in save percentage. Play Carolina. 

Carolina finally got a conference final win on Monday, ending a 15-game cold spell in this round that dated back to 2006. It should give this team renewed confidence heading into Game 5 tonight, and with the way Florida has played, Carolina needs all the help it can get. Frederik Andersen stopped all 20 shots in Game 4 as the Hurricanes won 3-0. Now they're back on home ice where they have won 14 of their past 18 games. Andersen is 8-4 with a 1.84 goals-against average this postseason while sporting a .914 save percentage. The Hurricanes limited the Panthers to 12 shots through the first two periods in Game 4. In his career, Andersen is 12-4-3 with a 2.72 GAA and a .911 save percentage against the Panthers, who have lost 23 of 50 road games in 2024-25. I like Carolina to win this game or at least keep it close. Take the Hurricanes on the puck line.

Carolina has tried about everything to no avail in this series, but Florida could be better off with a gentleman's sweep. The Panthers remember 2023 when they swept the Hurricanes in the conference final and then had to wait 10 days to play Vegas in the Stanley Cup, which killed all their momentum. The Panthers subsequently lost to the Golden Knights in five games. Carolina does not want to go into the offseason getting swept for the fourth time in a row in the East finals dating to 2009.
