The Tennessee Titans and the Washington Redskins are both still alive in the playoff battle. Each is in a must-win mode in Tennessee on Saturday, and each will need help as well. Washington has lost two QBs already and Josh Johnson emerged from the Jacksonville win with an ankle injury. He practiced fully on Wednesday and appears healthy. Johnson managed the game well vs. Jacksonville and was a threat on the ground as well. Marcus Mariota has thrown for just 11 TDs on the season and is just 10-14 ATS in his career as a favorite with 26 TDs to 20 INTs. On the other side, Johnson has done a pretty good job of taking care of the ball for the Skins. The Titans have not been more than a 10-point favorite since 2013, so this line is an overlay. Take the points on Washington.

Tennessee at Washington
The Washington Redskins have done a great job against the run this season, but without DeAngelo Hall in the secondary, they have been getting beat badly in the passing game. Right now Jake Locker's status is up in the air, but I think even if it is Charlie Whitehurst, the Washington secondary can still be had. Kirk Cousins appeared to be the man in Washington, getting a lot of love after a good outing in his first game replacement of Robert Griffing III. Many were even speculating that he would keep the starting job when RGIII returns. How quickly things have changed as some are now clamoring for Colt McCoy to get a shot. Washington's only win this season has come vs. what is turning into an automatic win for NFL teams in playing Jacksonville. Washington has been outscored 130-85 in four straight losses, so it is just too much to expect them to cover nearly a TD in this game, especially with Kirk Cousins who right now has lost all his confidence. Washington's 6-19 ATS home mark as a favorite of 4+ points in their last 25 bodes poorly as well, and so does their 5-21-2 ATS mark in their last 28 at home vs. a team with a losing road record. There are just too many points being offered in a game that can be won by either team. So, take the points and play on Tennessee.

Washington was humiliated on Monday Night in front of a national audience. That was no ordinary humiliation either. They allowed what some are calling the best QB performance ever. It was 35-0 Eagles before your seat was warm. Athletes have a lot of pride and as a result we quite often see that after a team gets buried, they puff their chests and come up big next time out. I fully expect that to be the case with the Redskins this week. Mike Shanahan is 13-4 ATS off a double-digit division loss in his coaching career. He's also 11-1 ATS after a game in which his team trailed by 2+ TDs at halftime. This is not a great Redskins team, but they did beat Green Bay and Philadelphia, so the talent is there. Tennessee has shown a lot of deficiencies on defense the last two weeks allowing 62 oints in two losses, both games season highs in points allowed. The offense has bogged down, and they have QB issues. Kerry Collins is out and Vince Young has an ankle injury. He'll play, but won't be at 100%. That is a bigger problem for him than most QBs because he depends so much on his legs to be effective. The Titans are a very weak choice as a 3.5-9.5 point favorite where they are a woeful 26-40 ATS under Jeff Fisher in this range. The Skins have failed to cover as a road dog just once in their last six. They are also 31-14 ATS in their last 45 games on the road when getting 3.5 to 7 points. I like Washington in this one.
