Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Tennessee Titans

Tampa Bay is going downhill fast losing its past four games and getting embarrassed by QB C.J. Stroud last week as he threw for an NFL rookie record 470 yards and calmly led Houston to a winning touchdown drive in the final 46 seconds. The only reason the Buccaneers covered the spread was because the Texans had an injured kicker. Tennessee is 8-2 ATS its past 10 games versus teams with losing records, but they come off a tough 20-16 loss at Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Tennessee QB Will Levis didn't come close to equaling his NFL debut performance when he threw four TD passes against Atlanta, but he still finished with 262 yards passing completing 22 of 39 against the Steelers. The Buccaneers are 1-7 ATS their past eight games after yielding fewer than 90 rushing yards their previous game, 3-10-1 ATS overall as favorites and 2-8-2 ATS as home favorites of 0.5-3.0 points. Tampa Bay has stayed UNDER six of eight games this season and the Titans are 8-2 UNDER their past 10 games. The Buccaneers are 17-5 UNDER following a loss. New Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles is still going to run the same pass-happy offense for Tom Brady. The Bucs threw for 301 yards in Week 1 against the Dolphins as the ground game had just 88 yards (2.8 ypc). Unfortunately, they won't have Brady for any preseason games so QBs Kyle Trask and Blaine Gabbert will run the offense again. Tampa Bay has averaged 15.7 points in their last seven preseason games. Tennessee plays its home opener after a 23-10 loss at Baltimore. The Titans have more talent on defense than offense. Rookie QB Malik Willis struggled and Logan Woodside was worse with two second-half interceptions. Tennessee won at Tampa Bay last August in Week 2, 34-3, holding the Bucs to 2-of-14 on third down and just 1.5 yards per rush. In this rematch, both defenses look way ahead of the offenses. Tampa Bay had only 159 yards of offense while losing to Cincinnati, and Tom Brady played one series and completed one pass for nine yards. Three other QBs got in the game, including Blaine Gabbert (6 of 11, 64 yards), Ryan Griffin (6 of 11, 47 yards, 2 INT), and Kyle Trask (4 of 15, 35 yards). Trask actually is the leading candidate to replace Brady if he ever retires, and all three quarterbacks should see action again this week. Tennessee downed Atlanta 23-3 as Logan Woodside and Matt Barkley each threw a touchdown pass as they battle for the backup position behind Ryan Tannehill. Woodside completed 10 of 15 for 84 yards, and Barkley went 5 of 8 for 54 yards. Titans coach Mike Vrabel is only 3-6 ATS in the preseason, and Bruce Arians is 13-11-2 ATS. With several capable QBs for both teams, look for more scoring. Plus, the Buccaneers won't want to lose two in a row at home, even if they are defending Super Bowl Champions. Tennessee pulled out a miraculous victory over the Chargers in a wild final minute of play when Jurrell Casey recovered Melvin Gordon's goal-line fumble with 15 seconds left to seal the win. It snapped a two-game losing streak and got a win for Ryan Tannehill in his first start since the Titans benched Marcus Mariota. Tennessee still is averaging only 17.3 points on the season and the question remains if the veteran Tannehill can continue to play well after finishing 23-of-29 for 312 yards and two touchdowns. That is why Tennessee is just a slight home favorite against Tampa Bay, which is coming off two losses to the Saints and Panthers after routing the Rams 55-40 in September. Jameis Winston threw for 400 yards on 30-of-54 against Carolina, but was picked off five times. Coach Bruce Arians still has confidence in Winston and said his QB just needs to make better decisions as he did against the Rams. The Titans are 0-4-1 ATS their last five home games and 14-33-4 ATS their last 51 versus teams with losing records.  Tampa Bay is 4-1-1 ATS its last six road games and 6-1-1 ATS its last eight when following a loss dating to last season.
