Seattle Seahawks vs Tennessee Titans

Seattle's new coach, Mike MacDonald, continued Pete Carroll's tradition of playing hard in preseason. They went on the road and shut down the Chargers in a 16-3 victory. QB Sam Howell threw for 130 yards and a TD in his Seattle debut. They outgained the home team 328-to-198, going 11-of-20 on third down with outstanding balance (156 yards rushing). Tennessee won the opener over San Francisco. The offense, however, still has serious question marks with the rotation of QBs Will Levis, Mason Rudolph, and Malik Willis. They're rebuilding under a new coach after a last-place 6-11 season. Play Seattle as a Max Play.

Seattle eked out a 20-17 home win against underachieving Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night when backup QB Drew Lock engineered a 92-yard drive in the final minutes capped by a 29-yard TD pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Seahawks still have lost five of their past seven games and now they travel to Tennessee with a 2-5 road record. The Titans were coming off a miracle win over Miami, but they blew a 13-point lead and lost 19-16 to Houston on Sunday. Will Levis threw for 199 yards and ran for a score for Tennessee, which still has won four of six home games this season. The Titans are 7-3-1 ATS their past 11 games as home underdogs and 9-1-1 ATS after totaling fewer than 150 yards passing their previous game. The Seahawks are 2-7-1 ATS as favorites, 3-8 ATS as road favorites and 0-6 ATS after allowing fewer than 150 yards passing their previous game. Seattle had allowed 33.3 points per game its previous three games before beating the Eagles and Tennessee is 15-6-1 OVER as a home underdog of 0.5-3.0 points. The Seahawks allow 23.9 points per game compared to 21.5 for Tennessee. Take the Titans as a Max Play and the OVER as a Max Play.

Ryan Tannehill can't have a much worse game than last week when he was sacked six times, lost two fumbles, and was intercepted once. Luckily for Tennessee, it still has two huge weapons in the backfield with Derrick Henry and Chris Carson, although Henry gained only 58 yards on 17 carries against Arizona. The good news for the Titans is that Henry has averaged 125 yards his past 16 road games. Seattle pulled away for a 28-16 win over Indianapolis in a game closer than expected considering Russell Wilson posted a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in the first half and finished 18 of 23 for 254 yards. The Seahawks are just 3-5 ATS dating to last season, and their home-field advantage isn't what it used to be as they are 12-15-1 ATS as home favorites the last four years. Tennessee has covered five of its past seven after losing by double-digits at home, and Seattle is 4-10 ATS in Week 2 and 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games following a win. Also, the Seahawks have stayed UNDER eight of their past 10 games, and they are 14-6 UNDER in Week 2. Also, both teams went UNDER last week. Play the Titans ATS and the UNDER.

Seattle comes off a stellar defensive performance in a win over the 49ers. The Seahawks are 16-5 ATS their last 21 games in Week 3 of the regular season and they have covered six of their last eight after an ATS loss. Tennessee is just 15-37-3 ATS its last 55 games and 7-22-2 ATS its last 31 home games. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson is 13-3-1 ATS as an underdog and he was 23-of-39 for 198 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions against San Francisco. The Seahawks gained 131 yards on the ground led by rookie Chris Carson, who rushed for 93 yards on 20 carries and Wilson added 34 yards rushing. 49ers QB Brian Hoyer was held to just 99 passing yards by the Seattle defense. Tennessee bounced back from an opening loss to the Raiders, but the Titans are 0-13 ATS off a win of 10-plus points dating to the last several seasons. The Seattle defense responds to allowing more than 150 rushing yards in its previous game by covering the spread in five of its last six the next game. Grab the points and play the Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks are often thought of as a great defensive team with a pretty good offense. I am here to challenge "pretty good." This offense came of age last season with the addition of Russell Wilson at QB. This is now an offense that over their last 16 games (equivalent of a full NFL season) has averaged 30.3 points per game! The defense is also very good, but has not been as dominating of late. It has now gone three consecutive games allowing more points than the week before. The Tennessee offense may not look like it has done very well. Buy, when you consider the fact that they have played five games, and four of the five opponents have a defense in the top 10 in the NFL in fewest yards allowed, the 23 ppg they are averaging is quite impressive. It certainly looks to me like their is significant value on the plus side of the total here. The Titans' ability to move the ball against good teams, those with a winning record, has led them to five straight OVERs when facing a winning team. Seattle is in a similar place, having gone 19-4 to the OVER in the Pete Carroll era vs. winning teams. Under Carroll, this team is 36-20 OVER overall  including 18-8 OVER at home and 16-6 OVER following a loss. Take this one to exceed this low total.
