WIN

Forgive me but I am not yet a believer in Pete Carroll. He throws out an established, reliable veteran QB in Matt Hassellbeck and overpays for QBs Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst. They have a new offensive coordinator in Darrell Bevell (Vikings) and huge problems on the offensive line, which was a mess in preseason. The Seahawks have only three starters — left tackle Russell Okung, center Max Unger and wide receiver Mike Williams — who have been with the team since the start of Coach Pete Carroll's first training camp in 2010. And Okung missed preseason with an injury. This team somehow made it to the playoffs last sesaon but don't be fooled. They have a long way to go. This offense was the fifth worst in the NFL in yards last season, while the defense was sixth worst. The secondary is green. Of the 15 defensive backs on the roster last month, 11 were in their first or second season. The run defense was below average last season, which will be a concern against the 49ers. The Seahawks are 16-36-1 ATS in their last 53 road games and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games as a road underdog including 2-13 over the psat three seasons. The 49ers have been stockpiling skill position talent and unveil new Coach Jim Harbaugh, who brings in his version of the West Coast offense. The 49ers will struggle to win this division, but they have more than enough power up front in RBs Frank Gore and rookie Kendall Hunter to roll over Seattle, especially with the crowd and players fired up for the new coach. Lay the points with the 49ers.
