LOSS

The Oakland Raiders lost Jason Campbell to a collarbone injury a few weeks back, and now the Bears have to deal with the loss of Jay Cutler. The Bears will now turn to Caleb Hanie and bettors have lost confidence in the Bears. If you remember, last season Hanie was forced into action under duress in the NFC Playoffs vs. Green Bay and was more than adequate, going 13-for 20 and throwing two touchdowns. The Bears will likely be asking Matt Forte to run the ball often here – which could be the difference maker as a hobbling Richard Seymour is anchoring the Oakland defense, and the Raiders are allowing just shy of 5 yards per attempt on the ground. The Raiders have been running a lot since Campbell's injury with good success. However, the Bears have not allowed any team since Week 5 to gain 90 yards on the ground, so the advantage goes gain to the Bears. Defenses often step up in the first game after their team's QB goes down, and the Bears’ defense is already playing at a high level. The Bears are now 7-1 ATS in their last eight after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game. The Raiders have been brutal in the role of a home favorite at 3-14 ATS in their last 17 such games. Take Chicago in this one.
