New York Jets vs Washington Commanders Point Spread Picks

Washington averaged 22.3 points in three preseason games last season, part of a 5-2 preseason run OVER the total. Uptempo Kliff Kingsbury is the new offensive coordinator, joined by QB Jayden Daniels (the No. 2 overall pick from LSU). Another key addition for the offense is TE Zach Ertz, who worked with Kingsbury in Arizona from 2021-22. New York is on a 7-2 run OVER the total in preseason. The Jets have an elite wide receiver in Garrett Wilson and complement him with newcomer WR Mike Williams from the Chargers. Look for more offense than the oddsmakers anticipate. Two teams going nowhere meet in this matchup with Ron Rivera on the hot seat in Washington and New York dealing with the endless Aaron Rodgers soap opera. The Jets offense has been downright awful and they come off a 30-0 loss to Miami, in which they had a grand total of 23 yards rushing. Trevor Siemian and Zach Wilson combined to finish 18 of 37 for 136 yards and two interceptions and six sacks and the Jets were outgained by a net 290-103 yards. Washington at least showed some spunk in coming back from a 20-0 deficit before losing to the Los Angeles Rams 28-20 and the game just missed going OVER by a half-point. The Commanders had gone OVER their previous four games. Jacoby Brissett replaced QB Sam Howell in the fourth quarter for Washington and threw two TD passes although Rivera has said the Howell remains the starting quarterback. The Commanders are 5-2 OVER following an ATS loss and 12-4-1 OVER after allowing at least 150 yards rushing their previous game. New York is 0-4-1 ATS as a favorite, 2-6 ATS as a home favorite and 1-6-1 ATS its past eight games overall.The Commanders are 7-1 ATS their past eight games as road underdogs of 0.5-3.0 points, 5-2 OVER after an ATS loss and this is a low posted total due to the Jets' performance last week.
