New York Jets vs Philadelphia Eagles Point Spread Picks

Both teams have split their first two games, but New York's quarterback situation does not look promising. Justin Fields completed one of five passes for four yards as the Jets lost 31-12 to the Giants last week. Adrian Martinez finished 12 of 21 for 114 yards and no TDs with one interception. Brady Cook went 6-for-11 for 74 yards and a TD. Fields hasn't thrown a pass that has traveled at least 10 yards, and the Jets have a young offensive line. The Jets yielded 478 total yards against the Giants, including 398 through the air, and they went OVER for the second game in a row. Philadelphia played its backup QBs against Cleveland and lost 22-13. The Eagles still have some decisions to make on the defensive side. They are 9-2 OVER their past 11 Game 3 preseason games, and Nick Sirianni is 8-6 OVER in his preseason career. The Jets still are a work in progress in Aaron Glenn's first year as head coach. Robert Saleh won and covered his first two preseason games, and the third was a 31-31 tie as a 5.5-point favorite against the Eagles in 2021. The Jets look to further improve in Zach Wilson's second season at quarterback, and he and the rest of the offense has looked great in training camp, especially last year's second-round steal Elijah Moore at wide receiver. Joe Flacco, at 37 years old, is running ahead of Mike White for the No. 2 backup. The former Super Bowl-winning QB got into only two games in 2021 and completed 27 of 42 for 338 yards with three TDs and no interceptions. White played in four games and threw for 953 yards with five TDs and eight interceptions. Philadelphia coach Nick Sirianni was 0-2-1 straight up and 1-2 ATS in his first preseason, including a 35-0 blowout loss to the Patriots. He is expected to play Jalen Hurts and the rest of the starters for only one or two series and also get a look at newly-acquired A.J. Brown, who has 185 catches for 24 TDs in his three NFL seasons. Gardner Minshew is the backup and is in his fourth season, and last year he played in four games and went 41-for-60 for 439 yards and four TDs. Carson Strong and Reid Sinnett are competing for the No. 3 spot behind center. The Eagles are 0-4 ATS in their past four preseason openers, and the line on this game is about even. Philadelphia hasn't shown much interest in the preseason losing both games, including 35-0 against New England while New York is 2-0 and covered the spread both times versus the Giants and Green Bay. The Eagles have been doing a lot of joint practices with other teams and that may be good enough for new coach Nick Sirianni, who will probably sit most of his starters. Jalen Hurts has played only two series in the preseason completing three of seven passes for 54 yards against the Steelers. Meanwhile, Zach Wilson directed three scoring drives, including two touchdown passes in the Jets' 23-14 victory over the Packers. Wilson finished nine of 11 for 128 yards and already is the clear choice for New York's starting quarterback and has outshone No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence.
