New York Giants vs Washington Commanders Point Spread Picks

New York has lost seven in a row, and Washington has lost eight straight, so something has to give on Sunday, and the Commanders would seem to have the advantage as the Giants appear to be playing for the No. 1 draft pick. The Giants have lost about every way possible this season, and the Commanders have won and covered the past three meetings, including 21-6 in Week 1. New York has lost 11 of its past 14 home games, and the Giants are #30 in the NFL, allowing 28.2 points per game. Washington will need to show some pride after being embarrassed by Minnesota 31-0. Jayden Daniels was injured again so that Marcus Mariota will be back under center for this game. Mariota had a five-game stretch in which he averaged 186.6 passing yards with six TDs. Jaxson Dart has cooled off a bit, and he completed 17 of 24 for 139 yards and a TD in New York's 33-15 loss to New England, and it went OVER. The Giants have gone OVER seven of eight, and they are 6-1 OVER following a loss of more than 14 points. The Commanders are 9-1-1 OVER after scoring fewer than 15 points in their previous game. New York had a good offseason, upgrading the offensive line and the quarterback position with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. They won all three preseason games, scoring 34, 31, and 42 points. Washington's dazzling offense makes it a bit of a public team after last year's playoff run. But what about this defense? They had a poor defense, ranked 22nd in points given up, 17th in yards allowed, 31st against the run, 16th on third down (39.15%), and 27th in the red zone (63.77%). Washington won on a Hail Mary by Jayden Daniels to Noah Brown after Zach Ertz tipped it for an 18-15 victory over Chicago. Daniels did not have his best game of the season, but he still threw for 326 yards with no interceptions. The Commanders accumulated 481 total yards but had to settle for field goals until the miraculous ending. Washington is 6-1-1 ATS this season, while New York is 2-5-1 ATS and has lost three in a row. The Giants outgained 426-394 in a 26-18 loss at Pittsburgh, which went over by 6.5 points. Daniel Jones completed 24 of 38 for 264 yards, and rookie Tyrone Tracy ran 145 yards for the Giants. The Commanders have covered six straight against teams with losing records, and New York is 0-3-1 ATS in the past four home games. Washington has gone OVER five road games in a row and is 11th of 16 overall. The Giants are playing on a short week after a challenging game versus the Steelers, and they are 4-14-1 straight up against NFC East opponents. New York is also trying to regroup after losing at home to the Vikings. New York's defense played well getting two turnovers and holding the Vikings to 3-of-10 third down. The Giants are 6-1 ATS after getting less than 90 yards rushing in the last game, plus 6-1 ATS after a loss by 14 or more points. Washington has a rookie QB in Jayden Daniels, who was more effective running than passing in his NFL debut. And the defense was terrible surrendering 392 yards as Tampa Bay went 9-of-13 on third down. Play New York.

A divisional battle between the two worst teams in the NFC East. New York's defense is allowing 26.6 points per game and is eighth in the NFL on third down (35.43%). The Giants are 28-13 ATS on the road versus defenses that allow 6+ yards per play and 19-7 ATS away from home against defenses that allow 27+ points per contest. Washington QB Sam Howell has been sacked 47 times and the team is 46-79 ATS as a home favorite, including 8-21 ATS as home chalk of 7.5 to 14 points. They've been favored three times this season (0-3 ATS), beating Arizona (20-16) while losing straight up to the Giants and Bears (40-20).
