Tennessee traded star receiver A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry is returning from a serious foot injury. Rookie Malik Willis will back up Ryan Tannehill, who had 3,734 passing yards and 21 TDs, but with 14 interceptions and a 55.9 QB rating in 2021. The Titans lost their opener 38-13 to Arizona as a 2.5-point favorite last year and they are 1-5 ATS their past six season openers and they started 0-3 ATS in 2020. Also, Tennessee is just 9-13-1 ATS as a home favorite the last four seasons. The Titans split their last eight games, including a 19-16 loss against Cincinnati in the playoffs when Tannehill threw three interceptions and Joe Burrow racked up 348 passing yards. The Tennessee Titans and New York Giants' playoff hopes have long been cast aside. These teams will take to the field for pride, with each getting the sense that they can come away with a rare win vs. what has been an inferior opponent this season. Tennessee has been a decent team from the line of scrimmage. Their biggest problems are turnovers, penalties, and the inability to get in favorable down and distance range on third down. That has led to the huge hidden reason why this team loses just about every week - they simply don't get to run enough plays. Tennessee has run 168 fewer plays than their opponent over the last nine weeks, or an average of 18.7 plays per game deficit. They have even had a week running off just 39 plays, ouch. The good news is they average 5.9 yards per play on the season and 6.5 per play at home. Their defense is weak allowing 5.7 per play which is a reason the Titans have allowed 28.2 points per game. The Giants are allowing 26.6 per game while posting a respectable 21.4 per game. The bottom line is that the offenses should prevail in this one as both defenses are really bad. Dating back to last season, the Titans are a perfect 7-0 OVER at home as an underdog. Their head man Ken Wisenhunt is 22-10 OVER following a double-digit loss. Take the OVER in this one.

A year ago, the New York Giants started the season looking like the team to beat in the NFL. After five weeks the Giants stood at 5-0, having had allowed all of 71 points or 14.2 points per game. What has happened since has been amazingly bad, as Giants fans can well attest. The defense, once a strength of this team (leading them to a Super Bowl win), has turned sour. The last 11 weeks of last season saw five teams score 40+ on the Giants as they went from allowing 14.2 ppg over their first five, to 32.4 ppg over their last 11. This season it appears things have not changed much as the G-Men are off a game where they allowed 38. It wasn't so bad that Peyton Manning did his thing, but the Giants allowed 160 on the ground as well. The Titans were held in check vs. the Steelers, who are a top defensive team. Let's not forget that Tennessee put up 38 in week one. The Titans started last year 0-6, scoring 14 ppg. But since then, they have averaged 26.6 ppg. This one certainly looks a lot more offensive than the number posted here. The Giants’ porous defense has resulted in seven straight OVERs, while the Titans have now gone 9-4 to the OVER in their last 13 after a loss. Under Jeff Fisher, Tennessee is 33-21 OVER following a weak offensive performance (scoring 14 or less). I like the OVER in this one.
