Las Vegas Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers Point Spread Picks

Las Vegas has named Gardner Minshew as its opening day starter after a 27-12 loss to Dallas in which he completed 10 of 21 for 95 yards. Aiden O'Connell finished 14 of 20 for 96 yards and a TD and an interception, but coach Antonio Pierce is going with the much more experienced quarterback. O'Connell killed his chances when he was picked off and it was run back 69 yards for a touchdown. The Raider defense was torched by third-stringer Trey Lance, who threw for 151 yards and a TD on 15-for-23 passing. The Raiders are 3-11 ATS in Game 3s in preseason and 1-3 ATS the past four preseason meetings with San Francisco although the 49ers are in somewhat of a revenge mode after being blown out 34-7 in the 2023 preseason opener by the Raiders. It looks like the Las Vegas Raiders and Derek Carr have parted company. Carr has been benched and has come to an agreement with the Raiders to step away from the team for the rest of the season. The Raiders will turn to Jarred Stidham at QB. Stidham has completed just 52.5% of 51 career passes with just 2 TDs and 4 INTs. Nothing looks more like a team throwing in the towel for the season than this. He will face a San Francisco defense that has allowed 12ppg in their last 7 contests. The Raiders will struggle to score at all in this game. That means the San Francisco offense is going to need a breakout game, but if the game is uncontested as it should be, San Francisco is going to have 2nd team players in a good amount of the 2nd half. Las Vegas defeated the Rams on Saturday 17-16 when quarterback Bryce Perkins missed on a pass for a two-point conversion with 15 seconds left. The Raiders suffered more injuries though especially on the defensive side where they already are very thin at linebacker. Nathan Peterman played the whole game at quarterback and finished 16 of 24 for 172 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. Perkins had a decent day against the Raider defense completing 26 of 39 for 208 yards and two TDs. Peterman will get the call again this week and there still is a chance Marcus Mariota might get some snaps if he is healthy enough. Trey Lance has been one of the stars of the preseason and he threw two touchdown passes and was 7 of 8 for 93 yards on his final three drives and is likely the Week 1 starter for San Francisco.
