Not only do the Rams have the more accomplished quarterback, but they also have the superior defense. The Rams give up fewer yards per play and fewer completions than Jacksonville. The Jaguars will also be without injured linebacker Devin Lloyd, the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. Lawrence was sacked a season-high seven times against Seattle. The Rams' defense ranks in the top five in pressures and the top eight in pressure rate during the first six weeks. Rams defensive lineman Byron Young ranks second in the NFL with 7.5 sacks. Teammate Jared Verse has nine quarterback hits in the past two weeks. That is bad news for Jacksonville's offensive tackles, Walker Little and Anton Harrison, who had it rough against the Seahawks last week. Take the Rams on the moneyline.

Los Angeles will be happy to just get a win, let alone covering a double-digit point spread as the Rams have suffered three losses in a row, and Matthew Stafford is reverting to his Detroit days by losing road games, including 36-28 at Green Bay on Sunday. Stafford was only 21 of 38 with an interception, and the Rams lost despite Aaron Rodgers playing with a broken toe. He threw for 307 yards, and the Rams turned the ball over three times. Stafford lost a fumble that set up a TD and had an interception returned 32 yards for a score. All of this doesn't bode well for a team laying this many points against another opponent that is desperate for a victory. Jacksonville has gone UNDER six games in a row and nine of its last 10 as the Jaguars defense has been decent, allowing 25.7 points per game. The Rams are 4-2-1 UNDER their last seven games, 22-8-1 UNDER their past 31 games as favorites, and 10-3 UNDER overall at home and 14-3 UNDER as home favorites. The new coaching staff has been impressive as has QB Jared Goff (seven TDs, three INTs) and newcomer speedy WR Sammy Watkins. The Rams are 12-1 OVER the total against the AFC South division, which includes a 46-9 rout of the Colts in Week 1. Jacksonville lost its only home game to Tampa Bay, 37-16. The Jaguars' offense has been very good, fifth in the NFL in points (27.8 ppg), and tops in the league in rushing. But the defense is in the middle of the pack in yards allowed because of a bad run defense surrendering 146.4 yards on the ground per game -- only the Chargers are worse. Jacksonville is 19-44-2 ATS after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game, plus 24-41 ATS when facing a team with a winning percentage between 60-75%. Jacksonville is off a strong defensive game, but 27-13 OVER the total after allowing nine or fewer points the last game.
