Betting on Pete Carroll in preseason has almost become a no-brainer as he is 32-17 straight-up and 34-14-1 ATS and 20-5 ATS against AFC opponents. Carroll has covered the number five of the last seven opening preseason games and he won and covered all four in 2017, including 48-17 over the Chargers in Week 1. Conversely, Indianapolis is 3-8 ATS its last Week 1 games and lost to Detroit 24-10 last year in the opening week. The Colts, of course, have a new coach in Frank Reich, but so much depends on the health of Andrew Luck, who didn't play a down last season due to shoulder surgery. Even that won't make much difference if there isn't improvement in the offensive line as backup Jacoby Brissett was an easy target as the Colts allowed a league-high 56 sacks. The Seahawks parted with several former key players and most of the coaching staff. That should give everyone reason to come out and impress the new assistants as well as the new players wanting to look good immediately. Russell Wilson's backups are Austin Davis and Alex McGough. Davis has been around for seven years, but has only played in the regular season for three seasons and appeared in three games with no stats for Seattle in 2017. McGough was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. Brissett, Brad Kaaya and Phillip Walker back up Luck, who probably will have limited snaps as he gets back into game condition. Kaaya did not make it past the practice squad for three teams in 2017 and the same for Walker with the Colts. Look for Seattle's winning preseason trend to continue, so take the Seahawks.
