Houston Texans vs New York Giants Point Spread Picks

Eric Gray ran for two TDs, and Tommy DeVito replaced the injured Drew Lock in the first quarter and led the Giants on two scoring drives. DeVito will get most of the snaps in this game, and he appeared in nine games, including six as a starter in 2023, and completed 64.0 percent for 1,101 yards and eight TDs with three interceptions. He is clearly in the lead for the No. 2 job at quarterback. Houston defeated Pittsburgh 20-12, and the Texans are now 4-0 UNDER in preseason with DeMeco Ryans as their coach. The Texans have gone UNDER five of their past six Saturday preseason games, and six of their past eight preseason home games have stayed UNDER. The Lions didn't play their starters, but the Giants defense held Detroit to 228 total yards, including just 110 passing yards. Coach Brian Daboll has the motivation to give Giant fans some hope after a disappointing 6-11 season in 2023. Take the Giants on the moneyline as a Max Play and the UNDER.

Houston is 1-6-1, but it hasn't really been blown out of any game and the Texans kept it close most of the game against undefeated Philadelphia last Thursday night before losing 29-17 and covering the spread. Davis Mills did not have one of his better games throwing for 154 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions, but the Texans did get a good outing from Dameon Pierce, who rushed for 139 yards on 27 carries. The good news for Mills is receivers Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks are expected to return after missing some games due to injuries. New York had its winning streak end at four by losing 27-13 to Seattle two weeks ago and then getting a bye week. The Giants went UNDER by 4.5 points and they are 6-1-1 UNDER this season. New York allows only 19.6 points per game and Houston scores 16.6. Houston is 11-3 UNDER its past 14 road games and New York is 33-16-2 UNDER its past 51 games overall and 15-5-1 UNDER following a loss. The Giants are 5-11 ATS after totaling fewer than 150 passing yards their previous game and 2-5 ATS their past seven following an ATS loss. Take the points with the Texans and the UNDER.

The New York Giants suffered so many injuries to their offensive weapons last year, there were just no players that were game breakers in the skill positions for most of the season. They finally got Odell Beckham Jr. resigned, Sterling Shepard is back, and they drafted Saquon Barkley out of Penn State, and on paper the offense looks formidable. They have not been able to put it together yet. Houston is also 0-2, and Deshaun Watson doesn't appear to have that same quickness, and doesn't look 100% healthy yet. The Giants expect so much more of themselves, and at 0-2 and sitting alone at the bottom of the NFC East they will bring a lot of energy to this one. The line here looks very inflated, and I think this one comes down to the last possession, so I will ride with New York.
