Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks Point Spread Picks

Seattle plays its only road game of the preseason. Undefeated (1-0-1) and scoring 56 points in two games, the Seahawks have little to prove on offense. Backup QBs Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe will run the vanilla offense. Seattle has scored 16, 15, and 15 points in its last three road preseason games, all UNDER the total. Green Bay QB Jordan Love has a thumb injury, so expect backups Malik Willis, Sean Clifford, and Taylor Elgersma to run the offense again. Green Bay has had an extra three days to rest and prepare after its crushing loss to Detroit last Thursday. The Packers have won seven of nine and covered the spread in their past three games. Seattle has won four in a row, but none were against teams currently above .500. The Seahawks are #25, allowing 4.7 yards per carry, and the Packers average 4.8 yards per carry. Green Bay is #5 in the NFL with 144.7 yards on the ground per game. The Packers are 6-0 ATS their past six games versus the NFC West and 6-0-1 ATS their past seven games against the Seahawks, who are just 1-4 ATS their past five home contests this season. Zach Charbonnet ran for a career-high 134 yards and two TDs in Seattle's 30-18 win over Arizona. Green Bay can counter with the league's No. 9 rush defense that allows 106.9 yards per game. Aaron Rodgers is expected to play on Sunday, but that doesn't automatically mean the Packers are in good shape after their weak performance without him while losing 13-7 to Kansas City. The Seahawks can learn from that game that pressuring the quarterback, as the Chiefs did against Jordan Love, is a winning strategy even versus Rodgers. Also, the Packers could be affected mentally as they were in Week 1 with all the controversy surrounding their star quarterback. Green Bay had a big win at Arizona, but the rest of their victories have been against teams with a combined record of 18-31. Seattle snapped a three-game losing streak with a 31-7 blowout win against Jacksonville, and then they had a week off. Most importantly, Russell Wilson will return from the injury list, although Geno Smith did a great job against the Jaguars completing 20 of 24 for 195 yards and 2 TDs with no interceptions. Seattle is 11-3 ATS its last 14 games as a road underdog, 8-2-1 ATS in Week 10, and 7-3-1 ATS its past 11 November games. Play the Seahawks.

Pete Carroll continues to prove that he's one of the best coaches in the NFL as Seattle has battled key injuries to advance to the Divisional Playoffs. Most notably, the Seahawks used to be almost unbeatable at home and just average on the road, but this season they are an astonishing 8-1 on the road and only 4-4 at home and Seattle is 11-3-1 ATS over its last 15 road contests. Green Bay won its last five games, but the toughest opponent in that span was Minnesota in a game where Kirk Cousins played another horrible Monday night game. The Packers were very fortunate to beat an awful Detroit team in the season finale and the offense was all but shut down in games against the Chargers and San Francisco. Matt LaFleur has done a decent job in his first year as Green Bay coach, but now he's up against Carroll, who has won a Super Bowl and has plenty of playoff experience. The Packers have gone UNDER in their last four games and they are 6-0 UNDER when following a win and 5-1 UNDER as favorites. Take the Seahawks on the moneyline and also the UNDER.

A tough schedule has found Green Bay with a .500 record, but still with a shot at the postseason and even a division title. They blew out the Dolphins last week, 31-12, following close losses to the Rams and Patriots - both on the road. The Packers lost 29-27 at the Rams and were tied 17-17 in the fourth quarter at New England. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has thrown 10 scoring strikes against zero interceptions over the last five weeks. He leads an offense that is top seven in total yards and passing, while the defense is #11 in yards allowed. The Packers are 35-17-1 ATS after allowing fewer than 15 points in their previous game. Rebuilding Seattle has a losing record overall as well as at home. The Seahawks' rush defense has been gashed for 5.0 yards per carry this season and the team comes off a tough 36-31 loss at the Rams. Seattle has also played six of its last nine games on the road.
