Green Bay Packers vs Las Vegas Raiders Point Spread Picks

Green Bay has had an extra three days to prepare and to make some adjustments after losing 34-20 to Detroit on Thursday in Week 4. The Packers will focus on getting off to a better start after falling behind 27-3 to the Lions and they'll face the Raiders who, as usual, are finding ways to lose. Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels will be on the hot seat soon if his team doesn't turn it around and the Raiders are hoping Jimmy Garoppolo's return from concussion protocol will give them an edge in tonight's game. However, their only win with him was by one point over hapless Denver in the season opener. Jordan Love completed 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions against the Lions and he has eight TD passes with three picks this season. Green Bay has covered the spread its past four Monday games and the Packers are 10-2 ATS after allowing more than 30 points their previous game. Also, the Packers are 16-7 ATS following a loss and 42-18-1 ATS their past 61 games after yielding more than 150 rushing yards. There won't be much of a home-field advantage for the Raiders as Green Bay fans will fill Allegiant Stadium much like Pittsburgh supporters did two weeks ago. This game is close to a pick 'em so take the Packers on the moneyline as a Max Play.

The Green Bay Packers are sitting in the cat-bird seat at 5-1 overall and are 3-0 in the division with a win against each team. That is good news. The bad news is that Green Bay is not statistically a 5-1 team as they have been out-gained by the six opponents on their schedule. They are playing like a team that should be .500. The 5-1 record has the Pack very overrated. Despite the 3-2 record, the Raiders will be an underdog for the sixth straight week. Green Bay star QB Aaron Rodgers has yet to play in the preseason, dealing with tightness in his back. He may not play this week, either, and the backups are unimpressive in QBs Tim Boyle, DeShone Kizer and Manny Wilkins. The inexperienced quarterbacks have gotten little help from a ground game that is averaging 3.2 yards per carry, getting 55 and 95 yards rushing in the two games. The Packers are also 10-of-25 on third down. Green Bay has scored 13, 6, 21, 17, 21, 7, and 21 points its last seven road preseason games for an average of 15.1 points. Their Week 3 final scores the last three Augusts have been 21-10, 20-17 and 13-6. Meanwhile, the Packers' run defense has been slashed for 171 and 138 yards, which allows opponents to chew up yards and the clock. Unbeaten Oakland's new-look defense has allowed 14.5 ppg this preseason, while the ground attack has gotten 121 and 149 yards. Last year in Week 3 of preseason, the Raiders beat Green Bay, 13-6, and this total is too high. Play the UNDER.

Jack Del Rio is a fiery coach, like Pete Carroll, and even in preseason he demands a solid effort. Del Rio is 22-17 ATS in August after a 31-10 win at Arizona last week. Derek Carr and Matt McGloin anchor a strong August QB rotation and the young defense impressed, forcing two turnovers as the Cardinals' QBs went just 15-of-40 passing with no TDs and two picks. McGloin threw a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes and RB George Atkinson III scored on runs of 53 and 35 yards. Green Bay is still without WR Jordy Nelson after losing him in last year's preseason, and this week they lost WR Jeff Janis (broken right hand). He caught the 41-yard Hail Mary reception on the final play of regulation to force overtime in a game Green Bay lost 26-20 to the Arizona Cardinals in the playoffs. WR Randall Cobb didn't play last week either (calf injury). The team has had a rough week with Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers facing PED suspensions from the league.
