Dallas has made strides on defense, holding Washington to 7 second-half points in a 44-22 win on Sunday. Dallas outgained the Commanders 409-341, and Dak Prescott threw for 264 yards and three TDs with no interceptions. CeeDee Lamb's return from an ankle injury clearly had a positive influence on the offense, as he had 110 yards on five catches. The Cowboys are 14-5 ATS in their past 19 October games, and Denver is on a 2-6 ATS run, though it pulled off a miraculous come-from-behind win over the Giants while not covering the spread. Dallas is averaging 37 points in its past four games, and the Broncos are 1-5 ATS in their past six games after allowing more than 350 yards in their previous game. The Giants totaled 387 yards against the Denver defense. The Broncos have only one win against teams currently above them. 500. Take the Cowboys.

Pro Picks
Dallas at Denver
The Dallas Cowboys have a solid all-around group that comes off of a 12-5 campaign and is favored to win the NFC East again. They're a dog in the opener, but the defense was decent last preseason, allowing 18.3 points in the first three August games. Their last seven preseason games away from home have all been close with the defense allowing an average of 16 points. That includes a 13-10 loss, a 19-16 defeat, a 20-18 win, a 14-10 win, and a Week 1 24-21 victory at San Francisco. Denver had a big offseason adding QB Russell Wilson, but he won't play much, if at all. The backups are uninspiring in Josh Johnson and Brett Rypien. Rypien is the only quarterback on the roster who played for them last year, and he wasn't very good in preseason, combining to go 8-of-17 for 72 yards with one TD and one pick. The Broncos also have already lost third wide receiver Tim Patrick for the season, so keeping things basic and avoiding more injuries in the passing game will be imperative. Take Dallas.

Pro Picks
Dallas at Denver
Dallas played an efficient game in its 19-3 win over the Giants on Sunday night as Dak Prescott was 24-of-39 for 268 yards and no interceptions. Ezekiel Elliott had 104 yards rushing and 36 receiving while Dan Bailey kicked four field goals. It was all the Cowboys needed against an inept Giants offense that still is struggling with its offensive line. In this game, Dallas faces a great defense and field goals aren't going to cut it. Denver is 11-3 ATS in early season play the past few seasons while Dallas is just 22-36 ATS in the Jason Garrett era as a favorite. The Cowboys are 35-16-3 OVER their last 54 games dating to several seasons after allowing fewer than 15 points per game. Denver has gone OVER its last four games in September, including Monday's 24-21 win over the Chargers, who came up short after a frantic fourth quarter comeback. The Broncos finished with 321 total offense yards, including 140 rushing yards on 3.9 yards per carry. Trevor Siemian was a decent 17-of-28 for 219 yards with two TDs and an interception. The Broncos are 10-1 OVER on a Sunday following a Monday night game and they have soared OVER five of the last six meetings with Dallas. Take the underdog here and look for the game to go OVER the total.

Pro Picks
Denver at Dallas
Denver's offense has been producing even with the backups, averaging 24 points per game. They had 399 yards last week and face a Dallas defense that was a disaster in 2013, and looks even worse this year. Dallas is currently 0-3 on the preseason as they can’t seem to stop anyone on the defensive side of the ball. Tony Romo looked decent in his limited action last week, completing 10-of-18 passes for 87 yards. However, the veteran quarterback was sacked three times as the Cowboys' offensive line looked shaky in the early goings. The defense, on its third coordinator in three years, has allowed 27, 37 and 25 points. Dallas has depth problems with a lot of injuries while the Broncos have a deep, healthy roster with several backups fighting for jobs. Lay the points on the Broncos.
