Cincinnati Bengals vs New York Jets Point Spread Picks

This is a big week for Cincinnati. After big hopes to start the season, the Bengals have opened the season at 0-2 and if they should fall to 0-3, just one NFL team off an 0-3 start has made the playoffs over the last 13 years. What seemed so easy last year has become quite difficult this year for the Bengals. Joe Burrow was throwing deep with lots of success last season, but this year so far just one pass with 20 air yards. Burrow has been looking at cover-2 defenses on close to half his snaps, and the deep ball is just not there. I think the Bengals' offense is going to make the necessary adjustments this week and you will see them generate a lot of points against a Jets team that has allowed 27 per game. This after finishing last season dead-last in points allowed per game at 29.6. The Begals are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games following a game in which they went UNDER. The Jets' running game has been strong and it has allowed Joe Flacco some windows to throw in, and he has done a solid job leading the Jet's offense. Cincinnati goes on the road and is laying double digits in an obvious letdown situation after beating Baltimore, 41-17, on Sunday. Also, the Bengals have to play the Jets after they were humiliated, 54-13, at New England. Mike White will make his debut as an NFL starting quarterback for New York after Zach Wilson injured his knee. White played his final two college years at Western Kentucky and threw for 8,540 yards and 63 touchdowns with 15 interceptions. He threw his first NFL pass for a touchdown against the Patriots and finished 20 of 32 for 202 yards with two interceptions. Joe Flacco and Josh Johnson are the probable backups for New York. Cincinnati is 2-5 ATS its past seven games following a win, and the Jets have covered five of their last seven home games. New York should be getting two key defensive players back from injuries in middle linebacker C.J. Mosley (hamstring) and linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle). The Cincinnati Bengals have been in the playoffs in six of the last seven years, and have yet to win a game. The offense seems to go in the tank in the post-season, as they have not scored more than 17 points in any of the seven games. Last year was a turning point for the Bengals defense, as the offense has been good for a significant period of time. The Bengals allowed just 17.5 points per game a year ago, and that was the least points they have given up since division realignment occurred in 2002. The Jets have not made the playoffs since 2011 and are just 28-36 SU over the last four years. All you have to do is look at their average points scored since the start of the 2012 season, sitting at 19.4 points per game, and that tells the story. They no longer have Chris Ivory, and it is hard to see where the offense doesn't regress this season. They won 10 games a year ago despite scoring 20 or less in seven games, mainly because the defense allowed less than 20 points per game. The Jets have always seemed to be a defensive team at home with not much of an explosive offense. The last 217 games played here have averaged less than 40 total points. This has been a chamber of horrors for the Cincinnati offense, which has played here seven times since 1992. And in six of those games, they scored 14 points or less. Make the play on the UNDER.
