Chicago Bears vs Washington Commanders Point Spread Picks

Jayden Daniels returned after missing two games due to an injured knee and threw for 231 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions as Washington defeated the Chargers 27-10 last week. Jacory Croskey-Merritt ran for 111 yards on 14 carries, and Deebo Samuel had eight catches for 96 yards as the Commanders were running on all cylinders. The defense also stepped up and held the Chargers scoreless for the last three quarters. Chicago comes off a bye week after edging Las Vegas when the Bears blocked a last-second field goal. The other win was against the defensively challenged Dallas team, so the Bears still haven't looked too impressive in Ben Johnson's first year as coach. Chicago ranks #31 in run defense, allowing 164.5 yards per game. The Commanders are #13 in total yards, and they have covered their past five home games. Chicago has lost 12 of 15 games and nine of the past 11 meetings. The Bears have lost 10 of their past 12 road games and 11 of 13 overall against NFC opponents. The Bears have gone UNDER five of six road contests against teams with winning home records. The Commanders are 6-1 UNDER and the Bears are 4-1 UNDER in Week 6. Washington is 3-2 UNDER this season. Chicago comes off a bye week looking good, winning three in a row. Rookie QB Caleb Williams has six touchdowns and only one pick in his last three games. The defense is fifth in the NFL in yards allowed, seventh on third down (32.05%), and fourth in points given up (16.8 per game). The Bears are on an 8-1-1 spread run. Washington has yet to have its bye week. They've split the last two weeks, beating hapless Carolina while losing to Baltimore surrendering 484 yards. QB Jayden Daniels (ribs) was injured in Week 6 and is considered "week-to-week" while the defense is 23rd on third down (44%). Play Chicago. 

This is a bad spot for Washington, even against the 0-4 Bears. The Commanders gave it all they had before losing 34-31 to Philadelphia on Sunday, and now have to come back four days later to play a Thursday game. Sam Howell did bounce back from a terrible performance the week before against Buffalo and threw for 290 yards, including a tying 10-yard TD pass to Jahan Dotson as time expired in regulation. Chicago came oh so close to ending its losing streak, but blew a 28-7 third-quarter lead and lost 31-28 to Denver. Justin Fields completed his first 16 passes and finished with 335 yards and four TD passes and the Bears had a 471-311 edge in yards of offense. The Commanders are 1-4 ATS their past five home games, 3-9 ATS as home favorites, 9-24 ATS as home favorites of 3.5-10.0 points, and 19-39-1 ATS overall as favorites of 3.5-10.0 points. Both teams have struggled this season, but Washington showed some life offensively against Tennessee with Carson Wentz throwing for 359 yards and two touchdowns to wide receiver Dyami Brown. However, the Commanders lost 21-17 as the Titans used a last-minute goal-line stand to win it. Chicago has lost two in a row and one of its two victories this year was in a downpour against San Francisco in the season opener and the other was against the lowly Texans. The Bears lost 29-22 at Minnesota and Justin Fields threw for 208 yards and his first TD in 15 quarters. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins was having a field day torching the Bears defense with 17 straight completions to start the game and completed 32 of 41 for 296 yards and a TD. Chicago is 6-16 ATS its past 22 games against the NFC and just 2-5-1 ATS its past eight home games. Also, the Bears have the second-to-last rush defense in the league.
