Chicago Bears vs Denver Broncos

This is a battle of arguably the two worst teams in the NFL as Denver was humiliated 70-20 by Miami and the Bears were annihilated at Kansas City 41-10. Normally a team bounces back after an embarrassing defeat, but it will take more than a week for Sean Payton and the Broncos to fix a team that just gave up 70 points and yielded 726 total yards. Also, at least Chicago is home while the Broncos are playing a second consecutive road game and they are 4-9 ATS their past 13 road contests, 0-4 ATS overall following a loss by more than 14 points and 3-8 ATS their past 11 October games overall. Russell Wilson appears to have been the product of great coaching and a good system by Pete Carroll as Wilson has been a disaster since leaving Seattle and he was just 23 of 38 with an interception against the Dolphins. The Bears are 11-4 UNDER their past 15 October games. Denver is 8-3 UNDER following an ATS loss and 20-8 UNDER as a road favorite. The UNDER is 13-6 in Denver's past 19 road games. It doesn't appear that Mitch Trubisky is the answer at quarterback for Chicago after his dismal performance in a loss to the Packers last Thursday night. Trubisky completed 26-of-45 for 228 yards and no touchdowns and an interception. Joe Flacco made his Denver debut and finished 21-of-31 for 268 yards and a TD, but in a losing cause as the Broncos came up short 24-16 to the Raiders. The Broncos did get 95 rushing yards on 23 carries, including 56 yards from Royce Freeman and 43 from Phillip Lindsay. There was a critical dropped touchdown pass by DaeSean Hamilton with Denver trailing 14-3 late in the third quarter. Denver coach Vic Fangio is familiar with the Bears as he was their defensive coordinator last season. Chicago is just 5-11 ATS its last 16 September games and 2-6 ATS in Week Two the last six seasons. The OVER is 7-3 in the Broncos' last 10 September games. Also, Denver is 6-2-2 ATS in home openers and Flacco will have a game under his belt with his new team. This is a low posted total. Play the Broncos as a Max Play (buy to +3) and take the OVER.

This is a great spot for an angry Denver team that got embarrassed last week, losing 42-28 at home to Minnesota. This is their final preseason home game and they face a rebuilding Chicago squad. The Bears have a new head coach in Matt Nagy taking over a franchise that has suffered four straight seasons of double-digit losses and last-place finishes in the NFC North. The reason hasn't been coaching but a lack of talent and depth everywhere. The offensive line has little talent and QB Mitch Trubisky was weak as a rookie (7 TD passes, 7 interceptions). Last week they lost at Cincinnati as the offense had no TD passes, three turnovers, and was 5-of-13 on third down. And the defense was shredded, allowing 303 yards passing, 144 yards rushing (5.1 yards per carry). It was also their second game, losing the Hall of Fame Game to the Ravens, 17-16. So the offense has four interceptions in two games and is 11-of-30 on third down. The Bears play their third straight road game against the embarrassed Broncos. Denver head coach Vance Joseph is still feeling the heat after a lousy 2017 campaign (5-11), his first with the team, and could use a good showing in front of the home fans. They were booed by the home crowd in Week 1. Denver is still 4-1 SU/ATS in preseason under coach Joseph, including a 24-17 win at Chicago last season. Denver's dominant defense has nothing to prove after a Super Bowl title and starts preseason on the road. They lost some key players, too, while CB Aqib Talib won't play while recovering from a gunshot wound. Denver's QBs have plenty to prove with Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. Coach Gary Kubiak hasn't even come close to naming a starter yet. Kubiak teams are 23-11-2 OVER the total in preseason. Chicago has a good August QB rotation with Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer, but the young defense is still short on depth and star power. Last preseason the Chicago offense clicked great at home, scoring 27 and 24 points, and this total is too low. Play this one to finish OVER the total.
