Minnesota had its three-game winning streak snapped unexpectedly as the Cowboys dealt it a 31-28 loss last week, and now the Vikings can't afford many more losses if they want to stay in the postseason picture. Kirk Cousins continued his improvement from early in the season and finished 22 of 30 for 314 yards and three touchdowns, but two lost fumbles in the first half by the Vikings along with 60 yards in penalties were too much to overcome. Minnesota was playing on a short week after beating Chicago the previous Monday and now it gets the Panthers, who had lost five in a row before beating the Lions 20-0. Carolina is only 2-6 ATS its last eight games versus teams with losing records, and the Vikings are 39-19-1 ATS their last 59 home contests. Also, Minnesota bounces back well as it is 38-13 ATS following a loss. Teddy Bridgewater is questionable (knee) for the Panthers. The Vikings are more than a field goal favorite, and the best bet is to take the Vikings on the moneyline.

The Carolina Panthers lost a big game last week to New Orleans and are now 8-4 on the season. This is a team that struggled offensively most of the season, but has since found their way. Through eight games, the Panthers were averaging just 18.5 points per game and scored 17 or fewer in four of them. Over their last four games they have averaged 30.2 points per game. The problem is a defense that allowed 17.8 points per game through the first eight has now allowed 24 points per game in their last four. The Panthers have gone from a team that saw their games average 36.3 points per game to one that averages 54.2 points per game. Minnesota shut down the up-and-down Atlanta Falcons offense last week, but their own offense has put up 20+ in seven of their last eight. This is a low total that doesn't take into account the improvements made by the Carolina offense and the regression of their defense. Make the play on the OVER.
