Baltimore Ravens vs Los Angeles Rams Point Spread Picks

Game of the Month - Baltimore has been fortunate to mostly escape a myriad of COVID protocols, but the Ravens have been ravaged by other injuries since the preseason. Lamar Jackson supposedly has a chance to play in this game, but he wouldn't be near 100% while dealing with an ankle injury. Defensive backs Chris Westry and Jimmy Smith have returned from the COVID list, giving the Ravens some desperate help in the secondary. Los Angeles has allowed only 15.8 points in its last four games, and Aaron Donald is playing at his usual high level with 12 sacks and 17 tackles for loss this season. Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions in the Rams' 30-23 win over Minnesota. The Rams defense allowed the Vikings only 66 rushing yards, however, and the UNDER is 24-9-1 in the Rams' past 34 games as favorites while Baltimore is 18-6-2 UNDER its past 26 January games. Baltimore is a beast all-around, 4-1 straight up on the road. The offense is second in the NFL in yards per game (428.6), tops in points (34.1 per game), while the defense is seventh in rush yards allowed and eighth in points surrendered (19.6 per game). They've outscored opponents by +145 points, third-best in the league. Baltimore is the lone NFL team that has yet to allow a point on an opponent's first drive this season. The Ravens are 20-7-4 ATS on the road against a team with a winning home record. The Super Bowl loser hangover is very real again as the Los Angeles Rams have taken a step back from a year ago and are just 2-2 straight up at home. The Rams have a losing record the last seven contests, giving up 55 and 30 points to the Bucs and Seahawks, while the offense struggled badly in losses to the Steelers (12 points) and 49ers (seven points). Baltimore got a look at three of its quarterbacks in its 17-16 win over the Bears with Robert Griffin III completing 7-of-11 passes for 58 yards and an interception. Josh Woodrum followed and was 6 of 6-for-37 yards and heralded rookie Lamar Jackson finished up with 4-of-10 for 33 yards. Griffin III and Jackson each had a touchdown pass. Los Angeles coach Sean McVay looks to continue to improve the Rams offense, which made great strides in 2017 scoring twice as many points as the year before. A lot depends on Jared Goff, who completed 62 percent of his passes last season for 3,804 yards and 28 touchdowns with seven interceptions. His backups for this game will be Sean Mannion and Brandon Allen. Mannion played in five games last year and started one of them. He finished the season 31-of-50 for 235 yards with an interception. Allen was inactive for every game last season and has not played in the regular season in his pro career. The Ravens have the benefit of already playing a game and getting their offense moving in the right direction and the Rams want to build on their 2017 season when they led the league in scoring. McVay has said he wants to unleash more of his playbook now that opposing teams may have adjusted to his first season as coach. Play the OVER.
