Arizona Cardinals vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Point Spread Picks

Baker Mayfield expects to play, although it is questionable how effective he will be with a non-throwing shoulder injury. Tampa Bay looked bad on Sunday, no matter who was behind center, as it lost 34-7 to the Rams, who led 31-7 at the half. Teddy Bridgewater relieved Mayfield and went 8-for-15 for 62 yards. The Buccaneers have lost three in a row while allowing 35.3 points per game. Arizona likely won't come close to that output, as it has scored between 20 and 27 points in its past eight games. The Cardinals lost another close one, 27-24, to Jacksonville in overtime, even though their defense forced four Trevor Lawrence turnovers. The Cardinals have lost six games by four points or fewer. Arizona is 5-1 ATS in its past six road games, and the Buccaneers are 1-5 ATS in their past six home games, 1-4 ATS in their past five overall. Mayfield is one hit away from leaving the game, and Bridgewater is coming out of semi-retirement, having played in only 10 games since 2022. Take the Cardinals and the UNDER.

We can wait only so long for Tampa Bay to turn it around, but the Buccaneers have shown no improvement and they now are on a 1-10-1 ATS run. They blew a 17-point lead and lost 34-23 at home against Cincinnati although Tom Brady threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. The defense has been no help recently as the Bucs have allowed 69 points their last two games and that had been the last remaining bright spot. Tampa Bay is 10-4 UNDER this season and Arizona has averaged just 15.5 points its past four games. Kyler Murray is out for the year and Trace McSorley will start for the Cardinals as backup Colt McCoy is out with a concussion. McSorley completed seven of 15 for 95 yards with two picks in relief of McCoy last week. Tampa Bay has not covered its past four road games and the Cardinals are 5-2 ATS after an ATS loss. Arizona demolished the Buccaneers 40-7 last season as Carson Palmer threw for 304 yards and Jameis Winston threw four interceptions. Both teams are looking to bounce back from losses with Tampa Bay losing a close one to New England and the Cardinals getting embarrassed in Philadelphia. Tampa Bay is now 1-5 ATS its last six games overall and 4-9 ATS after a straight-up or ATS loss dating to last season. Arizona traded for Adrian Peterson, which should provide a much-needed spark as starting running back David Johnson is out for the year. The Cardinals now have a viable option at running back, which will take some pressure off Palmer and help the passing game and also help in short-yardage situations. Winston was 26-of-46 for 334 yards and a touchdown in a losing cause against the Patriots and Doug Martin rushed for 74 yards on 13 carries. The Buccaneers are #30 in yards allowed and their pass defense is second-worst in the league. Also, the kicking game is in shambles. Arizona needs to redeem itself following last week's performance, so take the points and play the Cardinals.

Arizona did not play its best game but still was a last-minute missed field goal away from beating New England. The Cardinals have a lot to build on though as David Johnson rushed for 92 yards on 20 attempts and caught four passes while Larry Fitzgerald had eight receptions for 81 yards.  Carson Palmer finished 24-of-37 for 271 yards with no interceptions. Arizona is 15-6 ATS after an ATS loss and coach Bruce Arians has won 12 home games in a row (11-1 ATS) when following a loss when facing a team off a straight-up and ATS win. Tampa Bay is just 3-10 ATS after an ATS win and 2-6 ATS following any win. The Buccaneers were actually outgained by Atlanta 374-371 in the opener. Matt Ryan completed 27-of-39 for 334 yards against a Tampa Bay secondary that still is a work in progress. Also, Jameis Winston will face a  defensive backfield featuring Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu.  The Bucs-Falcons matchup sailed OVER the total last week and the missed field goal cost bettors the OVER in the Pats-Cards contest. Tampa Bay has gone OVER four of its last five games on the road and its last four overall.
