San Antonio at New York

2025-26 NBA Championship

Three games into these finals, the story has been resistance. The Knicks lead 2-1, and the scoreboard has stayed fairly tight throughout: San Antonio held to 95, 104, and 115, New York topping out at 111. Two of the three have finished below the posted total, and the exception, Game 3, was the one night both offenses broke loose. That reads like the outlier, not the trend. Both teams arrived as among the stingiest defenses in the league, and the series has played out exactly that way. Victor Wembanyama is altering shots and protecting the rim, and New York's offense has leaned on Jalen Brunson, manufacturing contested twos; he's shooting around 37% from the floor across the three games. The volume is there, the efficiency isn't. The first half has carried the same rhythm. Strip out Game 3's spike, and the opening 24 minutes have settled comfortably below the first-half number, both sides probing before anything opens up. Series scoring sits below both posted lines, and finals basketball this deep tends to tighten rather than loosen, with more deliberate possessions, fewer easy runs, and every trip contested. The market is pricing in a Game 3 carryover that the underlying defense doesn't support. Back the full-game UNDER and the first-half UNDER tonight.
