The records are identical at 18-7. But there are two differences between the Spurs and Knicks in this NBA Cup championship game being played in Las Vegas. The Spurs are the ones getting the points, and Victor Wembanyama is back. Wembanyama returned against Oklahoma City in the NBA Cup semifinals after missing the 12 previous games. Not coincidentally, San Antonio upset Oklahoma City, 111-109, as 10-point underdogs. The Spurs not only eliminated the world champion Thunder but also ended their 16-game winning streak. The Knicks have some outstanding talent with Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. However, the Spurs have a unique generational superstar with the 7-foot-4 Wembanyama, who is averaging 25.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks while shooting 50.4% from the field. He is not a one-man band either. De’Aaron Fox is averaging 23.9 points and 6.2 assists. Stephon Castle is averaging 18.4 points and 6.9 assists. They are two of the more underrated players in the NBA. Take the Spurs.
