Memphis at Golden State

A long road trip for a banged up Memphis team. The Grizzlies caught a break in the first round, playing a banged up Portland team. The Grizzlies defined the series even when they weren't playing particularly well, in keeping with their longstanding style of controlling tempo and locking down opponents. But it came with a cost with Mike Conley hurting badly (eye). Conley missed Games 4 and 5, and the Memphis offense appeared worse without him to direct traffic. He still looked quite bruised when interviewed during Wednesday's clincher, and he may miss Game 1 and possibly more of the series with Golden State. That means the Grizzlies will play an even slower style, and the team is on a 33-13-1 run UNDER the total, plus 24-8-1 UNDER against the Western Conference. Golden State didn't always play perfect the last series and still swept New Orleans. They are rested and also great defensively, No. 1 in the NBA in field goal shooting defense (35-17-1 UNDER the total against the NBA Southwest Division). The Warriors are 20-8 ATS against a team with a winning percentage above .600, as well as 18-6-2 ATS at home vs. a team with a winning road record. The last two meetings Golden State won a beat-down, 107-84 and just 111-107 the last game, but the Warriors were up 27 heading into the fourth quarter before Steve Kerr rested every player of consequence.
