Brooklyn Nets vs Washington Wizards Point Spread Picks

Washington packed it in yesterday in a loss at Miami, with only one starter playing more than 26 minutes. The offense shot 47% from the field and 43% from 3-point land, scoring 136 points. Brooklyn is in the rare role of favorite, despite being 10-28 at home. They've lost 12 of the last 13, ranked last in the NBA in scoring (106.1 ppg) and shooting (44.4%), while the defense is 29th in shooting allowed (49.5%). They've lost two straight at home by scores of 117-86 and 141-107. Play Washington on the moneyline. 

The Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards will meet in Washington tonight. Neither of these teams is close to fielding a competitive team. Brooklyn comes in at just 10-21 and Washington at 8-24. These are usually the type of games that end up competitive because both teams are bad and each feels they can steal a win. The Nets have really become an UNDER team, as the defense seems to be ahead of the offense at this point. The Nets are 15-5-1 to the UNDER in their last 21 games played. Washington has become, and UNDER themselves, as the Wizards are 7-2 to the UNDER in their previous nine games. Make the play on the UNDER.

Blindfold? The Nets and Wizards are each 1-11. But there is a difference between the two teams. The Nets are saving cap money while clearly tanking for the future. They have five rookies on their roster. Washington already has a nucleus of promising young talent with Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George and Tre Johnson. They should be in line for strong games as the Nets rank in the bottom-four in the major defensive categories. Brooklyn also will be without injured Cam Thomas. He is the team's second leading scorer at 21.4 points a game. Only two other Nets average in double figures. Washington has the rest advantage having last been in action on Wednesday. Brooklyn lost on the road to Orlando, 105-98, two days ago. The Wizards are motivated to win their first home game of the season. This is their golden opportunity to do just that. Take the Wizards.

The Wizards and Nets have played poorly all season, but the Wizards are in last place in the East and tied with Utah for the worst record in the NBA. There is little incentive for either team, but actually more incentive for the Wizards to lose. Washington is also without Kris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon, and Bilal Couliabaly. Those three players account for 37 points 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, which will be hard to make up for. The Nets have taken seven of the past 10 in this series, and I expect that trend to continue.
