We cashed Toronto twice last week as road underdogs against the Yankees, a lineup that came alive against shaky pitching. Tonight looks nothing like that spot. The Blue Jays send Max Scherzer to the mound with a 1-5 record and a 6.59 ERA on the season, the kind of line that would normally point toward a high total. It doesn't tonight, because Tampa Bay counters with Drew Rasmussen, sitting at 12-5 with a 2.78 ERA, the best start either team will get all week. We were on Tampa Bay's moneyline last night, and it wasn't particularly close, a blowout that pushed the Rays' record in this season series to a lopsided edge over Toronto. Griffin Jax gets the ball for the Rays tonight after a rough last time out, seven earned runs allowed against Boston, but that outing looks more like an outlier than a trend given his season-long numbers. Braydon Fisher counters for Toronto with an ERA in the low 3s. He'll likely pitch the opening frame, or two, before rookie Spencer Miles takes over in relief. Tampa Bay has the far better record in the American League East and the more balanced roster from top to bottom, and a team that's already dominated this season series doesn't need much to keep doing it.
