Washington at Colorado

We were on the UNDER in this matchup last night, and it cashed as Washington rolled to a 7-3 win at altitude, backing up the case that this Colorado pitching staff can be had. Miles Mikolas gets the ball for the Nationals tonight, and his surface numbers undersell where he's been lately: since June 8, he's walked just four batters against 14 strikeouts over 38 innings, and he's finished four of his last seven outings without allowing an earned run. Washington also leads all of baseball in scoring, a lineup that travels well and has given opposing pitchers trouble all season long. Michael Lorenzen takes the ball for Colorado, carrying a 6.22 ERA, and he wasn't sharp his last time out either, the kind of form that's landed the Rockies more than twenty games under .500. Colorado has shown signs of life the past two months, but this is a rotation mismatch layered on top of a lineup gap. I like Washington to build on what it started last night.
