Toronto at Tampa Bay

We cashed Toronto twice last week as road underdogs against the Yankees, a lineup that came alive against shaky pitching. Tonight looks nothing like that spot. The Blue Jays send Max Scherzer to the mound with a 1-5 record and a 6.59 ERA on the season, the kind of line that would normally point toward a high total. It doesn't tonight, because Tampa Bay counters with Drew Rasmussen, sitting at 12-5 with a 2.78 ERA, the best start either team will get all week. The Rays have rolled to a 75-50 record and sit atop the AL East, while Toronto is a game below .500 with an offense running a .244 team average and a .682 OPS, both well below league norms. A lineup that can't consistently string hits together against average arms isn't the group to bail out a rough Scherzer outing. Rasmussen limits hard contact and works deep into games, and nothing about Toronto's recent form suggests it's about to turn one bad start into a track meet. Take the UNDER.
