Toronto at Philadelphia

We took Philadelphia's price Friday, and Toronto snuck away with a 5-4 win that needed a ninth-inning escape, the first of what's become a two-game skid for the Phillies against this same team. Jesus Luzardo takes the mound looking to stop it, and the version of him over his last ten starts has been elite: a 2.26 ERA across 59.2 innings, holding the opponent to two runs or fewer in nine of those ten outings. Shane Bieber gets the ball for Toronto, and his season since returning in late June has been rocky, a 5.11 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP over eight starts, including one outing against Washington where he didn't survive the first inning. Philadelphia is a home favorite in the finale of this set after dropping the first two, exactly the spot where the Phillies have made visitors pay before. Toronto is finishing this trip under .500, and two tight, one-run wins on the road don't erase what Bieber has looked like since his return. Take Philadelphia this afternoon.
