The A's moved into a first-place tie with the Rangers in the American League West at 8-7. The A's did this by getting great pitching in winning five of six from the Mets and Yankees in New York this past week. The A's had three shutouts among their six wins against the New York teams. Don't look for that to hold up. The A's are traveling across the country, coming home to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, Calif., a minor league park and the best hitting venue in the American League. Texas has a much shorter trip, having been in Los Angeles for the past three days during a series against the Dodgers. Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi just had his best outing of the season against the Mariners six days ago. Eovaldi gave up six hits, two earned runs, walked two, and struck out seven. Eovaldi was brilliant last year before his season ended in late August due to a right rotator cuff strain, going 11-3 with a 1.73 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. A's starter Luis Severino is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in three road starts this season. Now, Severino draws his first Sutter Health Park start of 2026. Severino went 2-9 with a 6.01 ERA in 15 starts there last year. He sharply criticized the facility last season. Take the Rangers.
