Texas at Kansas City

The Texas Rangers and all their talent looked like they would breeze into the playoffs, but after their loss here last night to Kansas City, they are now on the outside looking in. This is a team that is really pressing right now, and they have logged a win in just four of their last 18 games. Matt Garza was supposed to be the pitcher to push them over the top, but he has lost his last three starts, yielding 14 runs in the process. Jeremy Guthrie is a 14-game winner, nine of which have come at home. Garza's 8.22 ERA in September is not what the Rangers had hoped for when they traded for him from the Cubs. The Rangers have been brutally ugly vs. a right-handed starter, where they are just 1-9 in their last 10. The Royals are a robust 21-7 behind Guthrie in his last 28 starts vs. a winning team.
