St. Louis at San Diego

The San Diego Padres fortified their lineup and rotation, and thought they were putting forth a team that could compete for a playoff spot this season, but at 60-62 time is running out. Nothing short of an extended winning streak will get them back in the hunt. That being said, they thumped St. Louis 9-3 last night, and are catching the Cardinals in a 35-game stretch that has left them a pedestrian 19-16. Carlos Martinez has had a good season, but struggled his last time out. In four career appearances against San Diego, he has been brutal, logging a 6.30 ERA. St. Louis is just 3-7 in their last 10 to a total of 6.5 or less as their bats have betrayed them, while Kennedy has pitched San Diego to an 11-4 mark in his last 15 to a total of 6.5 or less. Take San Diego for the win.
