St. Louis at Los Angeles

St. Louis has cooled off in a hurry, losing seven of its last ten, and tonight's spot doesn't offer much relief. Michael McGreevy takes the mound with a respectable 3.86 ERA on the season, but his last time out was the worst start of his year: seven earned runs in five innings against Baltimore, and now he walks into a Dodgers lineup that ranks second in the majors in OPS and fourth in runs scored per game. Eric Lauer starts for Los Angeles carrying a 4.78 ERA and innings totals that have swung wildly over his last five turns, from two frames to six and a third, against a Cardinals offense that's shown it can still do damage against shaky pitching even during this slide. Both bullpens are live possibilities to enter early given how unpredictable these two starters have been lately, and with one of the sport's most dangerous lineups on one side of this matchup, the posted total is well within reach for either team on its own.
