San Francisco at San Diego

The Giants have a couple contradicting influences regarding tonight's game in San Diego. How does a team that has won the World Series three of the last five years respond late in the season, knowing they are not going back to defend their title? Chances are that their minds are far from the field at this point, despite the presence of Madison Bumgarner on the mound. The Giants are just 4-4 in Bumgarner's last eight road starts so they are far from automatic here, and with less focus it may be even more difficult tonight on the road. The Giants are plagued with recent failures on the road vs. right-handers at just 4-9 in their last 13, and overall just 6-17 in their last 23 on the road. The Padres are  winners in four of their last five at home behind Kennedy. Take San Diego as a home dog.
