Streaky San Francisco followed its recent five-game heater with a four-game skid, but the Giants have one of their best starting pitchers going tonight in Anthony DeSclafani, who is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA and a splendid 0.93 WHIP. The right-hander has allowed only nine earned runs in 30 innings. Desclafani comes off a 7-3 win over St. Louis on Wednesday when he went six innings and gave up two runs on six hits and walked only one. Only three Houston batters have faced him for a total of eight at-bats. Hunter Brown has allowed six runs (four earned) on 11 hits in 11 2/3 innings at home this year for the Astros, who had to use six pitchers last night after starter Luis Garcia left in the first inning with right elbow discomfort.
