WIN

After needing six consecutive elimination game wins to make it to the World Series, the San Francisco Giants now find themselves up 2 games to none as they head to Detroit for game three. The Giants are looking more and more like a team of destiny, as they are getting it done in all facets of the game. The Giants are hitting, hitting for power, playing defense, and getting great pitching. Right now Ryan Vogelsong is at the top of that list of great pitching as his last six starts show just 4 runs allowed in 36 innings of work, for an ERA of exactly 1. The Tigers give the ball to Anibel Sanchez who they acquired from the Marlins to bolster a suspect rotation. Sanchez has been disappointing with a 9-13 record on the season and the Tigers are just 6-8 in his 14 starts since they picked him up. The Tigers’ bats have been silenced in the playoffs. After going the entire season getting shutout just two times, they have done so two times in 11 playoffs games. If Sanchez's last start vs. the Giants is any indication of what happens here, the Tigers are in trouble. He allowed 5 runs in 5.1 innings in a Marlin's uniform. The Giants are now 17-4 behind Vogelsong in their last 21 when their opponent scored 2 runs or less in their previous game, while the tigers World Series drought continues with five straight losses. Play on San Francisco.
