Detroit has lost three of four, and the Tigers have shown that they probably need a couple more big bats in the lineup. Keider Montero has been inconsistent in his four starts this year, yielding nine runs (eight earned) in his first two outings, and then allowing two runs in 12 1/3 innings in his last two. Montero faced the Giants once last season and gave up four runs in five innings. Detroit has gone OVER in Montero's past six starts against NL West opponents. The Tigers have lost four straight against teams that allowed two or fewer runs in their previous game. San Francisco has won six of nine, including 3-2 over Washington on Sunday. Hayden Birdsong will make his second start after allowing a run on five hits in five innings on Tuesday. Detroit is 7-2 OVER its past nine games versus the NL West, and it has gone OVER five straight Monday games. Take the Giants and the OVER.
