Carson Whisenhunt takes the mound for San Francisco tonight and brings a road ERA that's crept toward double digits since he joined the rotation in June, an alarming number for a starter away from home. Foster Griffin gets the ball for Cleveland, and while his overall ERA for the season sits at a sharp 3.31, he's allowed a dozen runs over his last three trips out, including five home runs, so this isn't a case of two locked-in arms. It's a case of one club that's simply better than the other. Cleveland's 60-65 mark is a clear step up on San Francisco's 51-73, and the Giants haven't scared anybody at the plate in months. That gap is the driver on both sides of tonight's ticket. Cleveland is the side I want on the moneyline, a home favorite against a team that's lost far more than it's won and is trotting out a starter who's been getting hit hard on the road all season. Even with Griffin a little banged up lately, both starters still throw left-handed, and lefty-on-lefty matchups have reliably kept scoring down in this league all August, a pattern that shows up here too. Two tired lineups, a class gap that favors the home team enough to win outright without needing to blow the doors off, and a total that hasn't caught up to either offense. Cleveland gets the call on the moneyline tonight, and the UNDER rounds out the ticket.
