Robbie Ray has been steady all year with the Giants/Padres, sitting at 3.28 with a 1.33 WHIP across 24 starts, and his most recent trip out was a mixed bag: a shaky final line against Houston sandwiched around a six-inning, one-run turn that looked more like the pitcher he's been all season. Zac Thornton has been the surprise of the Mets' second half. The rookie lefty is 3-2 with a 2.52 ERA in seven starts, and he just threw five shutout innings at Pittsburgh his last time out. Both pitchers work left-handed, and this league has seen the same story play out all August: when two southpaws share a mound, the total tends to come in UNDER. Ray misses enough bats to keep innings clean, and Thornton has yet to allow more than three earned runs in a start all season. Back the UNDER.
